“If Phil Robertson is an important voice in your political decision-making process, then this country is gone.”
Bottom line is: Iowa Republicans always picks someone who doesn’t win. If you look recently the last two election cycles prior to Cruz, it was Huckabee and Santorum.
Many Iowa Republicans are evangelical. That’s large enough that, if you carry them, you win the Republican caucus. That’s what Huckabee did, that’s what Santorum did, and that’s what Cruz just did.
As much as Donald Trump wants to try and claim he’s religious, many voters understand Trump may not be as steadfast in his religious beliefs as a politician like Ted Cruz. And it certainly doesn't surprise me that Ted Cruz brought on board Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson. But that’s like giving the Kardashians political credibility. Are these the people who have political pull now? Duck Dynasty?
If that’s the case, this country’s hopelessly lost. If Phil Robertson is an important voice in your political decision-making process, then this country is gone.
It’s FUBAR. Look it up.
